Backup
Peace-of-Mind
Unix has long been the operating
system of choice to provide commercial-strength business support. BRU data backup and recovery
technology has established a proven track record in delivering leadership Unix data protection
since 1985. BRU LE for Mac OS X is an extension of this heritage.
Seamless,
Integrated Support of Mac OS X
BRU LE is designed to support a traditional desktop environment where a user's data does not
exceed approximately 100,000 files and is limited to the disk provided with the desktop system
or an attached FireWire or USB drive. BRU LE is not intended for single system environments
that include large RAID volumes and file counts in the millions. Our BRU
Server Basic Edition
product is a cost effective entry-level large capacity backup solution that provides robust support
for larger single system environments.
The intuitive interface provides point-and-click operation of BRU's robust
functionality
For advanced
users, BRU LE for Mac OS X is fully scriptable from the command line to
customize operation to the requirements of the business using familiar
Unix scripting tools (sh, cron, at, etc.)
Leadership
by Design
The core of BRU LE is the venerable
BRU I/O engine - designed to accurately and successfully restore data rather than simply back
it up. This philosophical design sets BRU solutions apart from other backup tools and has a most
profound affect on the recoverability
of archived data during a restore.
Unlike
other tools, BRU LE for Mac OS X will not abort a restore unless the backup
has become physically impossible to read. Any corrupt data experienced
during a restore is reported, circumvented, and the restore is continued.
Getting your data back when it is most needed is what BRU LE for Mac OS
X is all about.
Leadership
Performance
BRU LE
for Mac OS X is an elegantly designed low resource application. Its small
"footprint" and very low overhead supports very high throughput rates.
This means
that backup operations can be performed at any time, eliminating the requirement
to carefully schedule backups because of their impact on system availability
and performance.
Flexibility
Because
not all user requirements are alike, BRU LE for Mac OS X can also be used
from the command line interface to customize operation to the exact requirement
of the business.
BRU LE
for Mac OS X works with SCSI, Fibre-Channel, USB and FireWire tape drives
and SCSI and Fibre Channel-connected single drive tape autoloaders with
up to 10 slots. Providing native tape device support, no costly software
drivers are needed.
All removable disk technology is
also supported including: Magneto-Optical (MO) devices, Zip(tm), and more. Additionally, BRU LE
will back up to disk-based archive files (D2D). |
